DBF Russell Terriers is a veterinarian-owned program located in northern Virginia for the breeding and development of small terriers known as Russell Terriers, an American Kennel Club (AKC) breed. Breeding since 2002, DBF Russell Terriers contributed to the foundation stock for the breed as it became formally recognized by the AKC in 2012. Although we have had much success in the show ring both in the USA and in Europe, we have never lost sight of the fact that our pups are going to be someone's pet first and foremost! So, while we breed to improve on conformation (appearance) and movement, health and temperament are primary. We want our terriers to be good family companions, full of life but not hyperactive, ready for a bit of feisty fun but never aggressive, loyal to their owners but friendly to strangers, while living a long life.
Please explore this site to learn more about us and our philosophy in breeding. Read about this wonderful breed of dog and the activities it excels in to determine whether it is the right breed for you. Be sure to see the FAQ page to see if we have answered all of your questions. View available puppies and available Juniors/Adults and complete an application if you are interested in discussing further. I’m from Alaska so coordinating the future proposed puppy purchase will take time but I can guarantee that we will not run her in the Iditarod. Haha

Fabulous website
I’ve been searching for a quality breeder such as yourselves. I’m so glad I found you. We are looking for a pet quality female puppy or older spayed female. We are an experienced dog family. We sadly just had to put down our beloved service dog/GSP “Izee”. We probably would not be getting her until October 2026. Can you help us. I will be training her to be a service dog so intelligence is a must and it sounds like all that your breeding for definitely is what we would love to be a part of. We anxiously awaiting your input.

Hi Candace. I filed puppy application on 2/15/26 and sent deposit today. I applied on Gooddog and I have sent several emails. I am looking for pet female. I will spay. I would love to meet or have a chat. I am close to Middletown so a visit would be great. Thanks Margaret Kelly
Hi, I would like to purchase a Pet pup from you! What the time line and cost of your pet quality pups? Thank you !!
I am interested in a show prospect and performance puppy. I did fill out your questionnaire. I've heard males are more affectionate, is that true? Do you have recent pictures of the pups now 4-5 weeks old? And the pedigrees of the females? Thanks, Aimee Novotny

Is Scout still available?
To Candace -- Hey, situation has changed somewhat and have renewed interest in a female puppy. If either your Tabby Girl 1 or Oopsie is available my husband and I can drive up from Florida to meet. Let me know. Vikki Ottrando (352) 362-3821 or vottrando@comcast.net
I was looking at the 2-yr old female named Harmony. Is she still available? What is her size? What's the difference between wire and broken coat? Which is she? (I want a female--smallish). Thank you
